Fuquay-Varina 2040 Community Vision Land Use Plan

The Town is currently updating the 2035 Community Vision Land Use Plan, a document that identifies the community’s vision for future growth and development. The current plan was adopted in 2017, and since that time, the Town has experienced unprecedented growth, adding five new residents every day. The updated 2040 plan builds upon the vision, guiding principles, and recommendation of the current plan and provides more focus and clarity regarding the community’s expectations for the character, quality, and mix of development in the Town’s planning jurisdiction.

Community character is detailed in the new Character Typologies section of the plan that describes how different areas of the community should be developed in terms of their look, feel, and functionality – including aspects such as the size and types of buildings that are appropriate in different areas, as well as how developments are connected internally and to each other with streets, sidewalks, and open spaces with the goal of maintaining and enhancing the characteristics that make Fuquay-Varina a great place to live and do business.

UPDATES:

A draft of the updated plan will be brought to the Town Board for a public hearing on July 11, 2022, at 7:00 pm at the John W. Byrne Municipal Building (134 N. Main St.)

A public hearing was previously held by the Planning Board on June 16, 2022 at 6:00 pm and the Board recommended approval of the plan.

All written comments received before July 1, 2022, will be provided to the Town Board for their consideration and decision process regarding adoption of the updated plan at the July 11, 2022 public hearing.
