The Town of Fuquay-Varina proposes to construct an approximately 1,700-foot long asphalt and boardwalk trail to the west of the Hidden Valley neighborhood. The Hidden Valley Greenway will begin at Jordan Meadow Drive, east of Purfoy Road, in the Hampton Park Estates Subdivision and extend north along Neills Creek. Town Engineering staff are considering multiple options for where to terminate the greenway including connecting to Galega Drive in the Old Waverly Subdivision, or connecting to a greenway to be constructed by a private developer. This project is intended to improve pedestrian connectivity throughout the town. Access to the proposed greenway will be available through the tentative connections to Galega Drive and Fairway Green Drive.
The boardwalk segments of the proposed greenway will be constructed to mitigate effects on streams and wetlands. Additionally, an overlook boardwalk area is proposed mid-way along the proposed greenway to provide a scenic area for users to rest. Town Engineering staff are still determining what types of amenities to install at this overlook, such as benches, trash cans, or informational boards.
The Town is working to secure funding for construction. A map of the proposed greenway construction is included. The comment period closed on October 29, 2021. Please note that the map is a PRELIMINARY design. Your feedback will help shape the project.
